  1. Those are great sites and tools for the LCSW test prep, but I found a more organized, step-by-step study plan that offers on-line audio workshops and over 600 online practice questions, just to name a few. The test prep comes from Therapy Development Center and I would recommend it to anyone. (http://www.therapistdevelopmentcenter.com/national-lcsw-exam-prep)

  3. I will be taking the exam for the 4th time in the next few months. I missed the exam 3 times #1-failed by 4
    #2- faiked by 3
    #3- failed by 1
In Texas one can only take the exam 3 times in their life unless the board authorizes you to re-test after you appeal! I went in person as soon as I was informed when I was on the agenda because The person answering the phones for the board when you call tells you this is best and bring everything you have done to prepare and letters from sws recommending you to re test ; I was so prepared had to drive 4 hours to the Capitol and spend money on a hotel and miss work not to mention that I just spent 260$ on a failed test! The crazy thing is I wasn't alone .. Well only one other Sw exam candidate showed up in person but there were 20 other people appealing to re test according to the agenda! THis is when I found the next bit of info out: The absolute frustrating thing to me is that the tests are scored on an algorithm and there are lower and higher degrees of difficulty per each item on the different tests (this determines how many of the questions one needs to answer correctly to pass; so the lower the number the more difficult the test items are) I actually made a 69 each time! So I only need to answer a few more correctly the next time to pass! Wow I could have gone my entire life without knowing the actual score! Regardless I am going to do what I need to do to become a LCSW! So the last time I took it I was very prepared I anxiety was healthy ate slept well took breaks all items were familiar and the dreadful FAIL flashes on the screen ----NO
Well I have determined there is a reason I am going through this
To increase my KSAs to be a better supervisor and social worker!
I bought the aswb clinical exam study guide from Amazon for 35$ and this is my guide - nothing was foreign on the test I should have studied the DSM V more and studied for a couple more weeks! ! This blog is great and I am really beginning to enjoy studying this stuff again ... See I read the blog and learned my style of learning.. I have a friend who I am teaching Sw to and this allows me to study too ! Podcasts are great for commute to work and I I'll get it this time! My clinical hours are only Good for 5 years from the time I was approved to test the first time....according to information from my licensing board ! After 2018 I would have to start over with supervision ! This is what was communicated to me.... So I don't know how people are taking the exam 11 or 12 times without running out of time---bravo to those for not giving up ! We have worked hard for this and we will persevere !
Thanks for this blog and I am waiting to get my approval to re test to decide when I am ready to take it ! Very few will know when though ! Too much pressure ... This is my journey !!! Thanks for walking with me to the test site though I proudly take this task on!
